Patco Tapes Guide - 1800, D9100, 9425FR, 5565FR, 8300
Patco Aerospace Tapes — The Complete Line Guide
Every Patco tape we stock, what each one seals or protects, the specifications it holds, and how to pick the right one for the job.
Patco is the specialist in aircraft sealing, corrosion inhibition and surface protection — film tapes rather than cloth, engineered for the places on an aircraft where water, corrosion or handling damage are the problem. Five products cover the range: floor-joint waterseals and galley wet seals, a lightweight moisture and corrosion barrier, a removable film for protecting finished surfaces during maintenance, and one exterior tape for leading edges. Patco part numbers appear by name on Boeing, Airbus, Bombardier and Fokker documentation.

The Patco line splits cleanly in two, and the split matters before you compare any numbers. Four of the five are flame retardant to FAR 25.853(a) and belong inside the aircraft; one is an exterior product and is not an FR tape at all.
Named on OEM documentation and flame retardant to FAR 25.853(a). These are the tapes a drawing callout points to for wet seals, floor joints and moisture barriers inside the aircraft.
Used on aircraft, but for temporary protection and exterior surfaces rather than a permanent qualified seal. The 5565FR is flame retardant; the 8300 is not. Check what your maintenance manual or drawing permits.

Send Us Your Drawing →The Patco sealing line Aircraft-qualified
Film tapes for the wet areas of an aircraft interior — floor joints, galleys, lavatories and entryways — plus the lightweight moisture and corrosion barrier used at seat tracks and in cargo areas. All three are flame retardant to FAR 25.853(a).

Patco D9100
Exceptionally elastic clear polyurethane film that seals floor joints and inhibits corrosion in wet areas. Repositionable during application, and the widest tape in the line at up to 36″.

Patco 1800
9.5 mil black flame-retardant PVC film with 200% elongation and 12 lb puncture resistance. Forms a permanent, non-delaminating wet seal in galleys and lavatories.

Patco 9425FR
Self-extinguishing polyurethane film with a hydrophobic acrylic adhesive, at 6.0 mil and 5.0 oz/sq yd. Seals against moisture and inhibits corrosion at seat tracks and in cargo areas, and carries Boeing, Airbus and Bombardier approvals.
The Patco protection line MRO & exterior
Two tapes that protect a surface rather than seal a joint — one removable and for use inside during maintenance, one permanent and for the outside of the aircraft.

Patco 5565FR
Thick, highly conformable LDPE film that stretches to 500% and lifts away clean when the work is done. Protects finished surfaces through a refurbishment, then removes with no residue. Clear or high-visibility orange.

Patco 8300
The one exterior tape in the Patco line: 14.5 mil non-yellowing polyurethane on a die-cuttable kraft liner, rated to 275°F and built to take rain erosion, UV and abrasion on leading edges, struts and stabilizers. Printable and paintable.
Patco 8300 is not an aircraft interior tape. It carries no FAR 25.853(a) flammability qualification — it is an exterior protective film for leading edges, struts and stabilizers. If your drawing calls out a flame-retardant material for a cabin or cargo location, the 8300 is not suitable for that callout; check the specified product and application against the drawing. The other four Patco tapes on this page — D9100, 1800, 9425FR and 5565FR — all meet FAR 25.853(a), but which of them applies is set by the callout, not by this page.

Specification cross-reference
If your drawing names one of these specifications, this is the Patco tape that holds it.
A cross-reference identifies a potentially matching product, not an approved substitution. Substitution still requires approval under the applicable aircraft, operator or engineering procedure. Confirm against the controlling drawing and the current manufacturer data sheet before you order.

Frequently asked questions
What are Patco tapes used for?
Patco makes film tapes for aircraft sealing, corrosion inhibition and surface protection. The line covers floor-joint waterseals and galley wet seals in the wet areas of a cabin, a lightweight moisture and corrosion barrier for seat tracks and cargo areas, a removable film that protects finished surfaces during maintenance, and one exterior tape for leading edges and struts. Patco part numbers are named directly on Boeing, Airbus, Bombardier and Fokker documentation.
Which Patco tape do I need for floor joints?
Patco D9100 is the waterseal tape for sealing floor joints in wet areas, approved to Boeing BMS 8-346 Type I and Type II. Its elastic polyurethane film moves with the airframe and it is repositionable during application. For galley and lavatory wet seal work in a black finish, Patco 1800 is the alternative.
What is the difference between Patco D9100 and 9425FR?
Both are polyurethane films and both carry Boeing BMS 8-346, but they answer different callouts and do different jobs. The D9100 is the waterseal for floor joints, listed to Type I and Type II, and is stocked up to 36 inches wide. The 9425FR, sold as SealDry, is a lighter moisture and corrosion barrier at 6.0 mil and 5.0 ounces per square yard, listed to Type I Class 3, and it adds Airbus A2MS 535-007 and Bombardier BAMS 535-007. Match the Type and Class on your drawing rather than choosing on construction.
Which Patco tape protects a surface during maintenance?
Patco 5565FR is the removable one. It is a 5.5 mil LDPE film that stretches to 500 percent, conforms over contours and lifts away with no residue when the work is finished, and it meets FAR 25.853(a) so it can stay on through an interior refurbishment. It comes clear or in high-visibility orange, by the case. For exterior surfaces that need permanent protection, the tape is Patco 8300 instead.
Which Patco tape goes on a leading edge?
Patco 8300. It is a 14.5 mil non-yellowing polyurethane film on a die-cuttable kraft liner, rated from −40°F to 275°F, built to take rain erosion, UV and abrasion on leading edges, struts and stabilizers. It holds Fokker FK05-193 and is printable and paintable. Note that it is not a flame-retardant product and is not intended for cabin interior use.
Are all Patco tapes flame retardant?
No. Four of the five are: D9100, 1800, 9425FR and 5565FR all meet FAR 25.853(a). The 8300 is not a flame-retardant product — it is an exterior protective film. If your drawing calls out a flame-retardant material for a cabin or cargo location, the 8300 is not the tape, whatever else it offers.
What is Patco SealDry 9425FR used for?
Patco 9425FR, sold as SealDry, is a lightweight self-extinguishing polyurethane film with a hydrophobic acrylic adhesive. It forms a moisture barrier and inhibits corrosion at seat tracks and in cargo areas, at 6.0 mil and 5.0 ounces per square yard so it adds very little weight. It carries Boeing BMS 8-346 Rev. E Type I Class 3, Airbus A2MS 535-007 Rev. A Type VI, Bombardier BAMS 535-007 Rev. B Type VI and FAR 25.853(a), and is available in widths up to 48 inches.
How are Patco tapes sold — rolls or cases?
It varies by product. The D9100 is available as single rolls or full cases, and the 1800 as single rolls. The 9425FR has a three-roll minimum on the 2 and 3 inch widths, so although the 2 inch works out at $126.65 a roll the smallest order is $379.95; the 24 and 48 inch widths are sold as single rolls. The 5565FR is case-only in every width and color. The 8300 has a minimum order that changes with width. Tell us the quantity you need and we will confirm what that works out to.
What is the difference between Patco and Polyken?
Patco is the film-tape specialist for aircraft sealing, corrosion inhibition and surface protection. Polyken is the broader line — cloth, fiberglass, foil and vinyl constructions covering carpet mounting, cargo compartments, speed tape repair, military packaging and stage work. Both are named on OEM documentation and both are made in the USA. See our Polyken vs Patco comparison for the two lines side by side.
Do you supply a Certificate of Conformance with Patco tape?
A Certificate of Conformance is included with every order where available. It is what ties the roll you received to the specification your drawing calls out, so tell us the callout when you order and we will make sure the paperwork names it.
Not sure which Patco tape your job needs?
Send us the spec callout, drawing reference or a description of the application and we'll confirm the correct part number, roll size, lead time and pricing. A Certificate of Conformance is included with every order where available.
