Frequently Asked Questions
What is Norseal SNS 200A used for?
SNS 200A is a silicone sponge tape with an acrylic adhesive used for gasketing, cushioning, vibration damping, noise reduction and thermal insulation. Saint-Gobain lists military equipment, drones, GPS units, walkie-talkies and environmental gasketing as typical applications.
What does the "200A" in Norseal SNS 200A mean?
In the SNS line, 200A is the silicone sponge grade with an acrylic adhesive. The "S" grades such as 100S and 440S use a silicone adhesive. SNS 300AR is the reinforced sponge version.
Should I use SNS 200A or SNS 100S?
Use 200A for stronger adhesion (30 oz/in) and a longer 24-month adhesive shelf life within -20°F to 325°F. Use 100S when the part sees -100°F to 500°F, since its silicone adhesive handles the wider range.
What temperature range is Norseal SNS 200A rated for?
-20°F to 325°F (-29°C to 163°C), per the Saint-Gobain data sheet.
Is Norseal SNS 200A flame retardant or aircraft approved?
No. SNS 200A has no flame-retardant or FAA rating. Norseal's 512AF, 515GF and 520AF foam grades are the flame-resistant options.
Is Norseal SNS 200A FDA compliant?
Yes. Saint-Gobain states SNS 200A meets FDA 21 CFR 177.2600.
What is the shelf life of Norseal SNS 200A?
24 months for the acrylic adhesive when stored at 70–90°F and under 50% relative humidity. Storing it at 40–50°F maximizes shelf life.
How do I apply Norseal SNS 200A?
Clean the surface with isopropyl alcohol so it is free of oil, grease, moisture and dust. Position the tape before removing the liner, and avoid touching the adhesive.
Does SNS 200A come with a Certificate of Compliance?
Yes. Saint-Gobain tests each lot and issues a Certificate of Compliance with test results, and we include it with every order.
What sizes does SNS 200A come in?
We supply3/4" wide x 1/16" thick x 10-yard rolls (P/N SNS200A), with a minimum order of 5 rolls. Other widths from 1/2" up and thicknesses from 1/32" to 1/2" are available slit to order; contact us for a quote.
