Both tapes below are flame-retardant fiberglass cloth tapes engineered for aircraft cargo compartments — sealing seams, repairing liners, and covering pins and rivets. They differ mainly in carrier construction, adhesive system, thickness, and tensile strength. The 296FR is a lightweight 7-mil acrylic tape with low-outgassing data and a Boeing BMS5-146 approval; the 290FR is a heavy-duty 13-mil PE-coated tape with an aggressive rubber adhesive and the highest tensile strength in the category. Use the comparison table to match the tape to your application and spec.
