Why This Tape Matches Your Spec
Patco 8300 is an exterior protective tape, not an interior flammability product. It is approved to Fokker FK05-193, the specification covering polyurethane protective and sealing film tape, and is selected on performance characteristics — UV resistance, moisture resistance, and abrasion resistance — rather than a Type/Class/Grade callout.
- Leading edge protection on aircraft wings, struts, and stabilizers
- Rain erosion and abrasion protection on exterior composite and metal surfaces
- UV protection for painted and unpainted exterior surfaces
- Surface protection for metals, plastics, and composites during maintenance and outdoor storage
- Die-cut protective patches for fairings, fillets, and high-wear contact points
- Ground support equipment and outdoor asset surface protection

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Patco 8300 used for?
Patco 8300 is an outdoor aircraft protective tape used to shield leading edges of wings, struts, and stabilizers, and to protect metal, plastic, and composite surfaces from abrasion, UV, and rain erosion. Its transparent polyurethane film lets you inspect the surface underneath without removing the tape.
Is Patco 8300 flame retardant?
No. Patco 8300 is an exterior protective tape and carries no FAR 25.853 interior flammability approval. For flame-retardant applications inside the aircraft, see Patco D9100 for floor joint waterseal or Patco 1800 for galley and lavatory wet seal.
Can Patco 8300 be painted or printed?
Yes. The polyurethane film is both printable and paintable, so it accepts markings, placarding, or a topcoat to match livery. It is also non-yellowing, so it stays clear through long-term outdoor exposure.
What is the difference between Patco 8300 and Patco D9100?
Both are polyurethane film tapes, but they are built for opposite sides of the airframe. 8300 is the outdoor product for abrasion, UV, and rain erosion protection on exterior surfaces. D9100 is the interior waterseal approved to Boeing BMS 8-346 Type I & II for sealing floor joints in wet areas.
Does Patco 8300 come in colors other than clear?
Patco 8300 is supplied in Clear (transparent) so the protected surface stays visible for inspection. Because the film is paintable, it can be topcoated after application where a color match is required.
What sizes does Patco 8300 come in, and is there a minimum order?
Patco 8300 is supplied in 2", 3", 4", and 5" widths on 36-yard rolls, with a 3-roll minimum order. Special-order slit widths and die-cut shapes are available on request. Lead time is 2-3 weeks on all sizes.
What is the shelf life of Patco 8300?
24 months from the date of manufacture. Store in the original packaging at 60–80°F and 40–60% relative humidity to get the full rated life.
Can you supply a Certificate of Conformance for Patco 8300?
Yes. A lot-specific Certificate of Compliance from the manufacturer is available on request and is included with orders where available. Send us the quantity and slit width you need and we will confirm lead time and pricing.
