Why This Tape Matches Your Spec
Boeing BMS 8-346 classifies polyurethane film tape by Type and Class. Type I is the tough polyurethane film with a pressure-sensitive adhesive used for moisture sealing in aircraft interiors. The Class then sets the performance grade. Class 3 — Patco 9425FR. Class 3 is the higher-grade class within BMS 8-346, and 9425FR is qualified to Type I, Class 3 under Revision E. A Class 1 tape cannot be substituted where a drawing calls out Class 3. Class 1 — Patco D9100. D9100 is qualified to Type I and Type II, Class 1, the standard waterseal class, and is the common requirement for floor joint sealing in galleys, lavatories and entryways. Beyond Boeing, 9425FR also holds Airbus A2MS 535-007 Rev. A, Type VI and Bombardier/de Havilland BAMS 535-007 Rev. B, Type VI — the equivalent moisture barrier callouts on those airframes — plus FAR 25.853(a) for interior flammability. If your drawing calls out BMS 8-346 Class 3, A2MS 535-007 Type VI, or BAMS 535-007 Type VI, 9425FR is the product. If it calls out BMS 8-346 Class 1, specify D9100.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Patco 9425FR used for?
Patco 9425FR is an interior moisture barrier and corrosion protective tape used for aircraft corrosion protection, seat track protection, cargo area moisture protection, floor seam protection in wet areas, and as an abrasion guard on interior structure and panels.
What is the difference between Patco 9425FR and Patco D9100?
Both are polyurethane film tapes under Boeing BMS 8-346, but they hold different classes. 9425FR is qualified to Type I, Class 3. D9100 is qualified to Type I and Type II, Class 1, the standard waterseal class. A Class 1 tape cannot be substituted where Class 3 is specified, so match the class on your drawing.
Is Patco 9425FR flame retardant?
Yes. The polyurethane film is self-extinguishing and the product complies with FAR 25.853(a), tested to Appendix F, Part I(a)(1)(ii). Certified results are 4.56 inches average burn length against an 8.0 inch limit, with zero flame time and zero drip time.
Does Patco 9425FR contain plasticizers or PBDEs?
No. The polyurethane film backing is formulated without plasticizers and without PBDEs (polybrominated diphenyl ethers), which is often a requirement for aircraft interior materials.
Is Patco 9425FR removable, and will it leave residue?
The hydrophobic acrylic adhesive is repositionable during installation and formulated for clean removal without residue. It is also mold and fungus resistant, which matters in the damp areas this tape is designed for.
What is the shelf life of Patco 9425FR?
24 months from the date of manufacture when stored between 40 and 80°F in the original dry carton, off the floor, in a well ventilated area. Berry guarantees a minimum of 12 months storage life remaining at the time of shipment.
What sizes does Patco 9425FR come in, and is there a minimum order?
2", 3", 24" and 48" widths, all on 36-yard rolls in Clear. The 2" and 3" widths have a 3-roll minimum order; the 24" and 48" wide rolls are sold singly. Other sizes are available on request.
Can you supply a Certificate of Conformance for Patco 9425FR?
Yes. Berry issues a lot-specific Certification of Compliance covering FAR 25.853(a), BMS 8-346, BAMS 535-007 and A2MS 535-007, with the flammability test data attached. It is included with orders where available.
