tesa 51970 is a 220 µm (8.7 mil) transparent double-sided PP film tape engineered for permanent industrial mounting and bonding — trusted across multiple industries for plastic and wooden trims, signs, point-of-sale displays, decorative materials, and appliance components. Where other double-sided tapes fail on difficult low-energy surfaces like PP and PE, its highly tackified acrylic adhesive delivers immediate, reliable adhesion — even on rough or slightly dirty substrates — while staying invisible through the transparent film.
The tackified acrylic adhesive combines very high initial tack, immediate adhesion, and long-term aging resistance, making it suitable for outdoor and UV-exposed applications. The tape withstands humidity, UV light, and temperatures up to 130°C / 266°F short-term and 80°C / 176°F long-term. A fingerlift version with extended liner (tesa 61970) is also available.
Responsibly sourced paper liner — unbleached, 30% recycled fibers, FSC® certified.
Key Features
- Highly tackified transparent PP film — Bonds remain invisible after application; ideal for transparent signs, scales, and decorative displays
- Very high initial tack and immediate adhesion — Bonds instantly on contact; no clamping or wait time for most applications
- Bonds low surface energy substrates — Reliable adhesion to difficult materials including PP and PE where standard tapes fail
- Light- and aging-resistant acrylic adhesive — UV-stable for long-term indoor and outdoor applications
- Humidity and environmental resistance — Very good humidity resistance; good chemical, softener, and UV resistance
- High-temperature performance — Up to 80°C (176°F) long-term; up to 130°C (266°F) short-term
- Sustainable liner — tesa More Sustainable Paper Liner: FSC® certified, unbleached, 30% recycled fibers
- SVHC free & RoHS compliant — Free of SVHC substances (or <0.1%); free of heavy metals, PBBs, and PBDEs per RoHS Directive
Applications
- Mounting plastic and wooden trims in automotive, appliance, and interior fitout
- Mounting transparent signs, scales, and point-of-sale displays
- Mounting decorative materials and displays
- Bonding and mounting in the appliance industry
- Secure bonding on low energy surfaces such as PP and PE
- General industrial mounting on rough or slightly dirty substrates
