FAQ
What is Polyken 108FR used for?
Polyken 108FR is a flame retardant double-coated carpet tape used for installing carpet on interior floors and stairs of aircraft, cabin refurbishment and MRO, hanging and sealing acrylic plastic sheeting, and general machine shop mounting and bonding.
Is Polyken 108FR the same as Polyken 108 and 108PE?
Yes. Polyken 108, 108FR, and 108PE all refer to the same product. "FR" denotes the flame-retardant construction and "PE" refers to the polyethylene (PE/LDPE) release liner the rolls ship with. Polyken labels the cores as "Polyken 108."
Does Polyken 108FR come in black, and which BMS 5-133 class is it?
Yes. Polyken 108FR is available in Beige (natural) and Black. Beige meets BMS 5-133 Type II, Class 1 (the common cabin-carpet requirement) and Black meets Type II, Class 2 (chosen where a dark adhesive line is preferred). Both also meet Boeing BAC5034-4 Sec 5.1.a(1)(b) and FAR 25.853(a).
Is Polyken 108FR flame retardant and aircraft approved?
Yes. It complies with FAA FAR 25.853(a) and meets Boeing BMS 5-133 and BAC5034-4, Douglas DMS 1971, Lockheed LAC C-24-1257, Embraer MEP 06-048, Fokker, Bombardier, and Airbus specifications for aircraft interior use.
