3M™ Polyurethane Protective Tape 8671/8671HS is a transparent thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer tape engineered for premium leading-edge erosion protection. Made from an abrasion-resistant polyurethane backing that resists punctures, tearing, abrasion, and erosion, and formulated for resistance to ultraviolet light, it provides a simple, durable method of protecting surfaces from corrosion, abrasion, and minor impact damage. A high peel-strength acrylic adhesive lets it withstand demanding conditions including rain and sand erosion — the trusted choice for aircraft leading edges, propellers, rotor blades, and stabilizers. Also available with a high-shear (HS) adhesive.
Designed for aerospace production and maintenance, its long-aging, solvent-resistant acrylic adhesive bonds effectively to aluminum, composites, primers, and painted finishes, maintaining bond strength through a range of climate and temperature changes while still removing cleanly when needed. Thin and conformable, it applies easily over curved surfaces and compound curves, and can be painted over or applied to painted surfaces. The transparent film allows visual inspection without removal.
