3M™ Glass Cloth Tape 398FR is a flame-retardant, single-sided glass cloth tape with a high-adhesion acrylic adhesive, engineered primarily for sealing aircraft cargo bay panels. Its highly conformable white glass cloth backing offers high edge-tear resistance plus excellent puncture, abrasion, and solvent resistance, blending cleanly into finished aerospace work. The trusted choice for permanent cargo-compartment sealing, it bonds securely over difficult textures and uneven or curved surfaces, and is also available in a printed version (398FRP).
Designed for insulating, bundling, splicing, holding, and sealing applications, its long-aging acrylic adhesive provides high, secure adhesion for extended periods across a wide range of climate and temperature conditions. A blue polyethylene film liner assists with ease of application, and the formulation contains no antimony and is EU compliant per directive 2003/11/EC (restricting Penta-BDE and Octa-BDE flame retardants) — making it an environmentally responsible choice for MRO and aircraft interior work.
